Christmas Eve Run

Just a reminder that the Saturday long run this week will start from 100 Beddoe Dr, unit 102 (see directions below). Same time as usual, 8am.

After the run, there will be an opportunity to try some Swedish Christmas food; gingerbread, lucia buns and glögg.

A tomte might also show up....

The doors will open at 10am for everybody, runner or not, who is interested to try some food or who just wants to socialize.

Directions: From 403 take the Aberdeen Ave exit, continue on Aberdeen until you pass under the railway bridge, turn right immediately after the bridge on to Studholme. Take first left on to Beddoe, towards the golf club house. 100 Beddoe Dr is the first street on the right, so turn right, and unit 102 is second furtherst on the left. There is a visitor parking opposite to our house.

Make a map in '06!

Looking for a New Year's Resolution that will help your race performance? If you are then consider hosting one of GHO's Adventure Nites and in preparation for the event make or update a map of your favourite park in the Halton or Hamilton area. Map making and setting courses is an excellent form of training and drawing a map has never been easier. If interested contact Mark Adams.

Ski Report: Chedoke

We have had the white stuff for about a week now and the ski conditions on the Chedoke golf course are decent. There are two loops for the skaters, ; a "long" loop in the SW corner of the golf course and a short loop around the driving range. There are tracks all over the area for those who prefer classic skiing, but the best "network" is in the SW corner as well.

Results: Ham Loppet 2005

HAM in the HAMMER
Unfortunately, some heavy snowfall made it difficult for many eager ham enthusiasts to particpate in the Ham Loppet 2005. However, those showing up were all keen on getting taking home the prize. Two course were offered, 8.8 km and 5.4 km, and finding the right route through the streets and avenues of Hamilton was the key to success. The snow, which kept falling through the race, made the roads and sidewalks very slippery.

1. Hans Fransson 0.30 (47.30 - 8.8km)
2. Mike Waddington 0.55 (50.55 - 8.8km)
3. Mike Schantz 3.25 (42.25 - 5.4km)
4. Mark Tarnopolsky 6.15 (52.15 - 8.8km)
5. Jason Cagampan 6.30 (63.30 - 8.8km)
6. Starr Waddington 7.10 (67.10 - 5.4km)

Barb Campbell wins THOMASS #2

To describe THOMASS #2, I will simply quote what a runner wrote in the race feedback: "Dave, great race. Just what a Thomass should be like. Runners with a wide variety of handicaps finished at almost the same time. " Dave Anderson and Maria Strack had put together a great course and the race became very close. But someone has to win and it was GHO's Barb Campbell who found the fastest way around Rattlesnake Point. Trudy Deumer, also GHO, placed second and third place and third GHOer was Mike Waddington. For results, race feedback and map. Go to The Chase.

Sat. Morning Training - Dundas Valley

Every Saturday morning is GHO Canada GHO training in the Dundas Valley. We meet at the Rail Trail at 8AM for a 2-2.5 hour run. This morning, we had an awesome group with Hans, Mike, Simon, Paul, Jason, Mark and Patrick. There was still a bit of snow on the ground and the weather was just about perfect for a long run.

See you at Chedoke Golf Course on Tuesday for some TNT!
