Ted de St Croix Top Athlete Award 2006 and 2007

At the past week's AGM, it was decided that Patrick Goeres and Elena Logvina would recieve the top athlete award for 2006 and 2007 respectively. Patrick lived in Hamilton for a year and 2006 was his breakthrough year. He won the US sprint champs and was selected to national team and ran WOC in Denmark. Patrick is now back in his CdeB colours, but since we believe he will be our next Ted, GHO is proud that he made a stop in Hamilton enroute. Elena is an experienced runner and she is consistenly among the top three runners in any race. At this year's COC, Elena took a bronze and a silver in the F35 category, and she was the only GHO member who took a medal. More of that please!

The Ted de St. Croix Top Athlete Award is awarded annually to the club member that has the 'top' orienteering results during that calender year. The award consists of a club membership for the following orienteering season. Ted de St. Croix was a member of the Niagara Orienteering Club and won many Canadian and North American Orienteering Champs while living in Niagara. Ted placed 10th at the 1985 World Orienteering Championships - the best ever by a North American man. Ted now lives in Vancouver and is the Canadian National Team Coach.
