Boxing Bay 10 Miler

To wear off the seasonal calories GHO Canada GHO members participated in the annual Boxing Day 10 Mile Road Race in Hamilton. After a leisuely downhill start and meandering along the Hamilton Bay section of the Waterfront Trail, this race goes straight up hill. From the bay to Chedoke Golf Course, racers have to maintain their pace. A short Bruce Trail section was dangerous this year as ice and snow with light sand gave traction problems. Just when one thinks it is a downhill to the finish, a long 1/2 mile hill tests racers. Coach Sudden was the top racer coming in 20th overall out of 830 in just over 1:01. Meridan was solid, home for Christmas from Calgary, finishing in just over 1:17. Other GHOers present were Ian, Trudy, Earle and Dave Anderson.
